Issue/Question:
How do I use TrustLayer’s NIPR integration to automatically verify and monitor insurance licenses?
Quick Answer
TrustLayer integrates directly with the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), allowing you to verify producer licenses in real time using either a National Producer Number (NPN) or a state license number.
Step 1: Request Access
Contact your Customer Success Manager or Account Executive to have NIPR license verification activated for your organization and confirm pricing.
Step 2: Add a License to a Party Record
Open a Party profile in TrustLayer and send a request for the producer to enter their National Producer Number (NPN) or state license number. You can also enter license data manually—either individually or via bulk upload.
Step 3: TrustLayer Syncs with NIPR
TrustLayer will check the license with NIPR and return one of the following results:
Active – License is valid and current
Inactive – Previously valid, now expired or unlisted
Invalid – Not found in NIPR records
Pending – Awaiting confirmation via next scheduled sync
State – Shows which states have an active or inactive license
License Type – e.g., Property, Casualty, Life & Health
Step 4: Monitor License Status Automatically
TrustLayer will continue monitoring license status daily and notify you if a license becomes inactive, expires, or requires attention.
Troubleshooting & Common Questions
Q: My license is still showing as ‘Pending.’
A: TrustLayer updates license status once per day. If the status remains ‘Pending’ for more than 24 hours, double-check the license number or NPN. Contact Support if it still doesn't resolve.
Q: I don’t see the license verification option.
A: NIPR license verification must be activated by your Customer Success Manager. It’s available to Pro and Complete plan customers.
